Jahrhunderte nach unserer Zeit hat die Menschheit das geheimnisvolle “veheißene Land” besiedelt. In dieser Welt lebt der vierzehnjährige Renton Thurston, der für sein Leben gern auf seinem Airboard durch die Lüfte gleitet, weil ihm sein Alltagsleben zu langweilig erscheint. Sein größter Traum ist es, ein etabliertes Mitglied des “Gekko State”, einer Bande von Luftpiraten, zu werden und einen LFO-Mecha-Roboter zu fliegen. Als eines Tages ein mysteriöses Mädchen namens Eureka mit ihrem LFO-Mecha vor der Werkstatt seines Großvaters abstürzt, ahnt Renton nicht, dass diese Begegnung sein Leben verändert wird. Denn schon bald ist er wirklich Mitglied des “Gekko State” und wird wie die anderen Mitglieder vom Militär gejagt. Doch dies ist nicht alles, denn neben Eurekas Vorliebe für Machinen gilt es noch andere dunkle Geheimnisse der Vergangenheit aufzudecken…
