Beschreibung:
In der Doppelfolge Eisige Zeiten (im Original Ice Queen und Meltdown) der achten Staffel von JAG – Im Auftrag der Ehre wird der Hauptcharakter, Commander Harmon Rabb, des Mordes an Lieutenant Loren Singer verdächtigt. Die Hauptfiguren von NCIS werden eingeführt, um den Mord an Singer aufzuklären. Die im Backdoor-Piloten Eisige Zeiten auftretende Figur der Vivienne (gespielt von Robyn Lively) wurde durch Sasha Alexander in der Rolle der Spezialagentin Caitlin Todd ersetzt und einige Details an den Persönlichkeiten geändert. Das Publikum in den USA konnte dieses Ermittlerteam am 23. September 2003 in der ersten Folge von Navy NCIS wiedersehen, das deutsche musste sich bis zum 17. März 2005 gedulden, ehe es die Serie zum ersten Mal sehen durfte. Ab der zweiten Staffel änderte man in der Originalversion den Titel zu NCIS, SAT.1 wählte dagegen Navy CIS als Titel. Donald P. Bellisario entschied sich für die Bezeichnung Navy NCIS in der ersten Staffel, um eine Verwechslung mit der populären Serie CSI zu vermeiden. Eine Anspielung auf dieses Thema findet man in der ersten Folge Air Force One. Sasha Alexander schied nach dem Tod ihres Seriencharakters Caitlin Todd am Ende der zweiten Staffel aus der Serie aus. Dies geschah auf Alexanders Wunsch, da ihr die Belastungen eines Seriendrehs für womöglich viele weitere Staffeln zu hoch waren. Zu Beginn der dritten Staffel wurde Ziva David als neuer weiblicher Hauptcharakter eingeführt. Die Kinder des Produzenten Donald P. Bellisario haben Gastauftritte in der Serie. In der Folge 2#20 „Die rote Zelle“ spielt Bellisarios Tochter Troian ein Mädchen in McGees Wohnung. Sie spielt Sarah McGee, die Schwester von Timothy McGee.In der Episode 09 der 4. Staffel taucht sie mit blutverschmierten Händen bei ihrem Bruder auf. Michael Bellisario verkörpert in den Folgen 6 bis 9 der dritten Staffel Abbys Assistenten Charles „Chip“ Sterling. In Verbindung mit JAG - Im Auftrag der Ehre ist das ein kleiner Fehler, da er dort bereits den Bruder von Bud Roberts verkörperte. Zwischen den beiden Figuren besteht aber keine Verbindung. Mark Harmon und Lauren Holly stehen für Navy CIS bereits zum zweiten Mal gemeinsam vor der Kamera für eine TV-Serie. In der Krankenhausserie Chicago Hope haben sie bereits in zwanzig Folgen zusammen gespielt. Die Herkunft von Special Agent Anthony “Tony” DiNozzo ist umstritten. Fakt ist, dass er offiziell fliessend Spanisch spricht. Jedoch wurde in einer Folge [2#13] sowie vom Synchronsprecher Norman Matt bestätigt, dass er Halbitaliener ist.
