Woody Guthrie (real name Woodrow Wilson Guthrie) (14 July 1912, - 3 October 1967), an American folk singer, guitarist. The main figure in the heritage of American folk music. His attitude to poverty, which he saw in life, translated into several excellent songs, which many considered an alternative national anthem of America. After the 2nd World War, Guthrie began a series of exemplary recordings for Folkways, which was over 200. Disciple of Woody Guthrie considers itself an outstanding folk-rock musician Bob Dylan.
Leadbelly (Huddie William Ledbetter) (15 Jan, 1888, - 6 December 1949), one of the major figures of blues, the first black blues singer, recorded a white audience. Lidbelli knew almost all the songs of his time who had some relevance to the repertory of black musicians in general and blues in particular: from European ballads to gang blues of working cell phone to polutserkovnyh chants from prison before the horse. The basis of his work were all the same songs Black (festive dancing and working rhythmic).
U2 for the album recorded Woody Guthrie song "Jesus Christ". Song recorded at the famous Sun Studio Elvis Presley in Memphis, while recording a few songs for Rattle And Hum.
